As you plan and strategize, it is vital to acknowledge the critical role that your employees play in your business’s growth. Knowing how to optimize your employees’ skills and knowledge provides your business with a stronger foundation.

Communicate their value

Give value to your employees. No matter how great their jobs seem to be or how much money they make, when they feel anonymous or when acknowledgement isn’t given, they would soon be uninspired to work. They’ll develop a lesser productive mindset. But when they feel supported, they are more likely to give more and to do their best work. They’ll be naturally engaged and accountable. To make sure that your people feel valued, make them understand the role they play in your organization. Explain the contribution they can deliver and how it fits into the company’s goals. Through this, they will feel a greater pride in working for you as they’ll realize their importance to the company.

Tap into their talents and unleash their potentials this will also benefit them in return. Having a committed and passionate team helps grow your business and moves you closer to realizing your goals.

Set the goal of having a great workforce. You increase how likely your business will grow and sustain as your people see their valuable contribution and their purpose.

Hold people accountable

As a business owner, it is important that you delegate tasks effectively. You can grow your people by turning each challenge and suggestion into a coaching opportunity. Your goals are to coach your team on how to make decisions, how to be accountable and how to solve problems.

The key here is to communicate. Talk to them. Discuss your expectations and listen to them as well. Try to align those expectations into a mutual understanding.

Most employees just need guidance, direction and clear communication on what is expected of them. As you make them accountable, they’ll be motivated to work harder. This can positively impact your bottom line.

Continuous employee engagement

If you expect the best from your team, you’d better take real interest in them.

Make it part of your regular responsibilities. Even if you are too busy, take time to check-in with your employees. Collaborate with them on plans and goals. Sometimes, just being a sounding board and hearing their creative ideas and suggestions can create a stronger connection.

You can learn a lot by communicating with your team.  As you communicate with them, identify opportunities that could develop their knowledge and skills – that would in turn bring benefits to the company.  Engage with them, give them feedback and see their excellence in action.

Instead of hiring superstars, create them. Investing in your people is the best investment you can make to ensure your business growth.

  • Develop them as individuals
  • Show interest in them
  • Improve their morale
  • Give regular structured feedback
  • Acknowledge and recognize their contributions

Like any asset you have, appreciate the value of your people and make continued investments to achieve the greatest return. Simply said, your people are you best competitive advantage.
