Be clear on what you want.

Commit to the mentoring relationship.

Give feedback.
Keep your mentor posted and give updates from time to time. The feedback – whether good or bad – that you will provide your mentor with will be a source of inspiration for both of you.
Do the work.
Be ready to do those tasks that you initially find difficult. Remember that your mentor has experienced both success and failures. A mentor knows that this task will help you develop and improve.
Be honest.
Tell your mentor if there is something that you don’t understand or have no idea about. Discuss your opinions and share your ideas as well.
Keep the relationship productive.
Get to know your mentor as an individual. Have lunch together. Connect about things beyond your business or your needs.
One important key to your success is having a small business mentor. However, without the right mindset and commitment when working together, it would be hard to reap the true benefits from the experience.
